Everything Counts, Even The Small Stuff

Everything counts, even the small stuff.  So what exactly does that mean?

Allow me to share; "Success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in and day out." --  Robert Collier.
I think this puts things in perspective quite effectively.
Have you ever noticed when you are doing something , that it just doesn't feel exactly how you imagined (often idealistically) it would feel? How studying just doesn't feel as you imagined after watching that inspirational film about someone who achieved superior academic feats against all odds? How crafting that sculpture, painting that picture, composing that musical piece, writing that poem or book just doesn't seem to live up to those expectations we have of how amazing we pictured them to be?

In my opinion, there are good days and bad days as far as this feeling is concerned. I have done some writing and I can tell you that it doesn't always feel as idyllic as we hope, but there are those days when there is just a glimmer of it, and even that is enough - like seeing just the faintest hint of light in a dark tunnel; like stepping into the invigorating burst of warm water in your shower on a cold winter's morning. It's enough to refuel your hope and determination to press on.
So why am I telling you this? The answer is simple. All this means is that we should carry on; keep pushing through the hard times, because when you do, no matter how small or large the effort - if you keep pushing on, step by step, methodically - "small efforts repeated day in and day out", those bad days and difficulties will end up in only one place...

Behind you!

And you can press on to the greater promise of the future for your next fleeting feeling of achievement until it all comes together in a massive reward of whatever it is you are working towards.

So, don't discount the small efforts that you can and do make throughout each day, because everything counts, even the small stuff.

P.S. Think Broadly. This concept can be applied to the whole spectrum of things in your life, not just writing, studying or crafting.
